Introducing Lees Summit Chiropractor, Dr. Richard Prather

The Chiropractor To See in Lees Summit

Rich Prather, D.C. was first introduced to chiropractic after a work injury. As Dr. Prather recalls "I hurt my back one day at work and could barely move, I tried over the counter pain meds and sleeping on a heating pad, but nothing worked. I wasn't really sure what I was going to do, until someone recommended a chiropractor. I was very skeptical, but went. And am I glad I did! It took several treatments, but I soon got better! It wasn't much later that I decided to go to chiropractic school to become a chiropractor myself."

Dr. Prather went to college at St. Vincent College, in Latrobe, PA where he received a BA in history. He later attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, MO, to receive his doctorate.

Dr. Prather married a Kansas City local, while attending Cleveland Chiropractic, and she introduced him to Lee's Summit, MO. "I fell in love with Lee's Summit, the moment I saw it. There is always something going on, the people are GREAT, lots of different restaurants and I really like the small town charm that is still here". Dr. Prather believes in supporting the local economy, so not only does he shop and have his office in Lee's Summit, but it is also his home.

"My philosophy is simple", Dr. Prather explains,” treat the cause not the symptom. I try to keep everything I do very simple. I truly believe that the patient is the most important aspect in health care. If the patient doesn't understand what is going on or why, than you are not going to get very far with helping them." Dr. Prather goes on, "I treat ever patient differently, because each one requires a different approach. Some patients I treat by hand, others with very precise instruments, I even get down on the floor to demonstrate stretches!"

"I offer I wide variety of services to the people of not only Lee's Summit, but the surrounding areas", Dr. Prather says, "I am a chiropractor, so I do treat headaches, neck pain, back pain, sciatica, disc problems, auto injuries, workers comp, pregnancy, sports injuries, carpal tunnel, shoulder problems and many more. But there are several other services I offer that are just as important. I offer a massage program that is second to none. I realized that not many of my patients could afford a massage, so I created a discount massage program, so everyone could afford one. I now have people coming from all over Kansas City to get massages."

“The service I just introduced is very exciting!" "I have recently added a Weight Loss Program to my office that is just out of this world". Dr Prather says "I am on this program and I have lost a total of 55 pounds...ALL FAT, and not only am I on the program I helped design the products and the plans!”

Dr. Prather is happily married to Cheri, and they have two little girls, Dr Prather adds "And just so you know, my wife and daughters receive chiropractic adjustments on a regular basis, as well as, myself." "My office is both friendly and warm; I try to make everyone feel at home. If you are in pain, want a massage, nutritional advice or want to lose weight please call and we can set up a time for a FREE consultation and take 10-15 minutes of your time to discuss your unique situation." Dr. Prather Asks some important questions of interest to Lees Summit residents - Chiropractor Lees Summit Dr. Prather Asks...

If you have a fever, are you sick or healthy?
Chiropractors love asking this question because it gets to the root of the chiropractic difference. Turns out fevers, vomiting, coughing and even sneezing are all healthy responses. It means your body is working correctly. Taking medications to suppress these natural processes can actually prolong your recovery.
Is a muscle spasm a cause or an effect?
With the knee-jerk use of muscle relaxers, you'd think it was a cause. But it's an effect. Chiropractors know that bones don't move unless muscles move them. And muscles don't contract unless commanded by the nervous system. That's why your nervous system is the focus of our Lees Summit chiropractic practice.
